Clinical Finishing

Play 3 v 3 in the middle area with goalkeepers at each end. The object of the game is to score in the opposing goal. Only the attacker with the ball can go into the end area from a through pass from a teammate or by dribbling in. No defenders are allowed in this area. Goalkeepers must stay on their line until the ball enters their goal area. Attackers have a maximum of 3 touches in end areas. Goals can be scored only in the end areas. Attackers have only 1 touch from rebounds from the goalkeeper. Progressions:1. Develop into allowing 1 defender to enter the penalty area also to put pressure on the attacker. The defender is nominated and is the only player allowed in.2. Reduce number of touches in the endzone to 2.3. Allow 2 attackers and 1 defender in end zone. 1st attacker has 2 touches, other attacker has only 1 touch.

Set out as many gates as possible within the area (2 discs, 2 yards apart). Each player has a ball. Group in pairs.Player 1 must dribble through as many gates as possible in a specified time limit. Player 2 must try and shadow his partner and each time he is able to kick his ball and it hits the ball of his partner, Player 1 loses a point. One point per gate.

Play 3 v 3. Each team elects a goalkeeper. This player is allowed to use his hands in the defensive end zone. He must also go forward as an outfield player during attacks on the opposing goal. Rotate keepers every two minutes. When a player receives the ball, he should try to move forward with it. Award 3 points for every successful turn; 5 points for every goal; 1st team to 21 wins. Allow the players to pick scores for different skills.

A goal is scored by a pass, header or shot in the goal. Players can score on both sides of the goal.Develop to using only one ball.Develop to 2 touch only.

High Intensity drillThis a 6 vs 2 invasion game. Mark out three areas in a line (each box 15m x 25m) using cones (You can adjust the area based on the level of the players and if it is too easy for the Attackers or Defenders).Start with 6 players in each of the two end areas and 4 in the middle area.The aim of this drill is for the 6 players in each end to keep possession of the ball, with those in the middle taking turns to try and win the ball. Players in the end zone have 2 touches maximum or a point goes to the Defenders.To start, a Feeder will throw the ball into one of the ends. Two Defenders will then move into the relevant end and chase down passes in an effort to win the ball back in a 6 vs 2 game.The 6 players will be passing the ball amongst themselves. Once they have completed 6 successful passes then they can pass to the opposite end. When this happens, the players left in the middle will enter that end and do the same thing.The Defenders work for 3 minutes then rotate the playing positions around.

Objective: The team on the outside to retain possession (on outside only) &amp; switch play by combining with middle attacking team. It will get players thinking, moving &amp; working together.Use a 20 x 20 grid and split your players into 3 groups, bibbed up. For example if you have 12 players (3 teams of 4). This activation practice will get players thinking, moving and working together. You will have 1 team spread on the outside of the box and 2 in the middle (one playing as Attackers, the other Defenders). The objective is for the team on the outside to retain possession on outside only &amp; when an opportunity arrives, play to the attacking team (whom combine/pass) and play it back out on a different side of the box. The defending team can only shadow/intercept but can tackle once the ball is inside. If the ball is turned over, then a transition happens &amp; the outside team will swap with the defending team.

Set up a 3 vs. 3 game in a quarter of the pitch. Each team elects a goalkeeper. This player is allowed to use their hands in the defensive end zone. A team must make at least 2 passes before they can shoot on goal. Award 3 points for every successful pass and 5 points for every goal. The first team to 21 points wins.

As soon as a player receives the ball from the goalkeeper or an outfield teammate, he should attempt a shot on goal. The defending team must attempt to pressure the ball carrier and closely mark all other attacking players.

6 vs 6 game with 2 Floaters (who can play for whichever team has the ball).Set up an area the size of one half of the pitch. In each corner and in the middle, position 2 cones to make 5 mini goals.Also have 6 players stood around the outside of the area, who the ball can be passed to and from.After the first game, switch one of the teams out and have the outside 6 come in and form a team. Rotate round like this so they each play each other.Play 3 mins each of attacking, 3 times (9 mins in total each, 27 mins overall).

Beating a high press from a go...

Could anybody provide me with any drills to beat a high press from the opposition when we are taking a goal kick, during a under 11 9 aside game. The team is a developing side with very mixed abilities. Our goalies cannot kick the ball far which leads us to lose possession around the 18 yard box.Any ideas would be much appreciated?
