Do you have a checklist sheet for the week of tryouts for Varsity level?
Hello,
There's a number of things you can measure including sprint speed (timed sprints), stamina (bleep test), and skill (slalom dribbling test).
With regards specific checklists I can point you in the direction of some good materials we already have on site including a category of Skill tests which you might find useful, as well as a Pre-season squad selection.
Hope this helps and I look forward to hearing other coach's suggestions!
PS. This question is very similar to yours and has some very tips from other coaches (well worth a read): How to run fair club trials for my U13s?
If you repeat your sprints and obsticle courses without and with the ball you can tell alot about the skill level.
The Illinois and SEMO tests in our Agility sport section are also worth a quick look for extra tryout ideas).
The first thing I test is fitness. Not just Beep Test, but a full range. Skills can be taught, but if they're not fit enough to start with, you'll be pushing the proverbial up hill once the season starts.
