DESCRIPTION

- 4 players have to move the ball across the box containing one defender
- Players must remain close to the corners of the box
- The defender can move along the line from side to side, but cannot encroach on the players hitting
- If the ball is intercepted, swap the defender in the middle with the player who hit the ball

COACHING POINTS

- Players should use there body position to disguise their pass
- The defender should attempt to dictate where the ball can go through their positioning in the box

PROGRESSION

- Allow the two players on one side to pass to each other, in an attempt to move the defender
- Allow the players on the outside to move up and down the box edge
- Increase the number of defenders
- Make the area smaller

Slap Hit - Defend the Goal:

- Players work in pairs
- Goal is to slap the ball past the opposing player and through the gate
- Works on picking the ball up at pace
- Players take it in turns to slap the ball, trying to beat the other who is defending the gate
- Should be a short, sharp, intense drill

Session Videos

Space pass:

Player 1 runs square across the pitch with the ball and then passes the ball into the space for the wide man to run onto the ball both sides. Then alternate sides.

Passing & Receiving

self pass Disguise Free:

The player with ball has a free hit.

They should play a self pass before then trying to get the ball to either player.

The defender has to keep their distance from the free hitter and try to move so that they can intercept the pass. Players on the free hit should disguise the direction of their pass.

Self Pass

Short pass while dribbling:

Player 1 is dribbling with the ball and makes a short (wall) pass with player 2 who dribbles on with the ball. As the end players 1 and 2 have switched so player 1 passes to player 2 and then player 2 starts off dribbling and so on.
