The idea is to get your players to run correct lines. Using groups of 5, have the players running straight and not drifting to allow space on the outside. Use coloured cones to set easy targets and help visualisation. Players should finish inside their target cone to practice attacking in and creating space wide. Progression: There are many way to progress this activity. Build a base before this by expanding on L shape grid lines. Add a diagonal set of cones creating a 45 angle of attack. Then have players run around their corresponding cone and align before passing the ball down the line. Progress to this tsk from above. Take it further by adding in 2 defenders to start. Defenders start marking the 9 then may drift. Further progession may allow for a 6th player to join as a sweeper and use their discretion to slot into the attacking line as they see fit.
Focus and getting players aligned and attacking straight. They should not close down the space on the outside. When using defenders players should endeavour to create the overlap. Allow players to be creative and attack as they see fit. Players need to communicate with each other effectively.
