DESCRIPTION

  1. Yellow player passes to red player
  2. Red player passes to blue player who does a fade lead towards baseline.
  3. Original yellow player becomes tackler. Focus on getting body completely around ball to block baseline run.

COACHING POINTS

If younger less skilful group, remove fade lead and had tackler already waiting to defend goal

 

Variations:

  • Setting up another different colour goal parallel with baseline (defender has to protect both line of goal but also 90 degree pass)
  • Hook lead with receive on reverse instead of fade pass (importance of getting back onto forehand quickly)
  • Can also make it an overhead receive (practice throwing and intercepting overheads)
