Outlet Drill #5 - Full Field (Playing down the Side)

DESCRIPTION

Full Field Drill

Playing down one side. You can replicate this drill playing down both the left and right hand side.

Whole Team Drill

Rotate players through positions, preferably the ones they are more likley to play in. You will need mutliple players in the Attacking Midfield and Striker Positions.

 

Outletting skills of passing, leading and receiving with an importance placed on quality of:

  • timing of lead
  • pass
  • receive to do next thing
  • Midfield & Striker movement to create space and other players to respond
  • RIC to get to designated circle areas

COACHING POINTS

  • Different passes
  1. Push
  2. Hit
  3. Slap Hit
  4. Reverse Stick Slide
  5. Overhead both long and short
  6. LFB to LH is short
  • Pre-Scanning
  • Receiving position in order to do the next thing (RH in front of Right Foot, LH in front of Left Foot (reverse stick) or right foot toward left foot (flat stick).

 

  • Initial Pass to Outside Half back.
  1. CH makes a hook lead and pushes forward to the top of the circle.
  2. AM makes a hook lead wide to create a hole.
  3. CS leads into the hole for a post up receive from HB.
  4. CS then has the option to pass inside to CH or outside to AM.
  5. Ball played outside to AM.
  6. Sideline striker varies leads, but in the end wants the ball wide at the T spot, which is where the AM plays the ball.
  7. CS & AM press forward to the circle positions.
  8. Sideline Striker collects ball dribbles baseline and passes.
  9. CS or AM shoot.
  10. If AM shoots CS heads to back post.
  • Initial Pass to CH.
  1. CH makes a post up lead then passes outside to Outside Half (defelction possible here).
  2. CH then turns and pushes forward to the top of the circle.
  3. AM turns sharply inside to drag defender with them opening hole down the line.
  4. CS reads AM movement and tracks intially sideways but then toward the penalty spot.
  5. Outside Halfback has square ball to AM or long ball to Sideline Striker.
  6. Sideline striker varies leads, but in the end wants the ball wide at the T spot, which is where the Outside Half plays the ball.
  7. CS & AM press forward to the circle positions.
  8. Sideline Striker collects ball dribbles baseline and passes.
  9. CS or AM shoot.
  10. If AM shoots CS heads to back post.
