Shane, Hockey Coach

DESCRIPTION

It is important when executing a press/screen that everyone understands and executes their job other wise it will fall apart.

COACHING POINTS

- Key point is the movement of the centre striker and starting non ball side striker

- It is the responsibility of the centre striker to cover the two central defenders

- The outside strikers are responsible for the outside defender/halfback on their side

- The centre striker should run a hook/banana/J lead from their starting position to stop the ball from going back the way it came (cut the turf in half)

- The starting non ball side striker should initially hold their space to stop the ball getting passed straight down the middle of the turf. As the ball is about to get passed out to the outside back the striker should move across and put pressure on the player without getting eliminated or giving away an easy free.
