which drills are best for those who lack handling skills and slow hands?
Hi Sesethu,
Improve your players handling with multiple simple drills.
This drill is my favourite, however there are good adaptions that you can make to the drill.
This version has the players keeping their peripheral vision on the rugby ball whilst catching a tennis ball coming from in front of them.
Not only does it work their reactions and coordination, it also helps their peripheral vision and scanning ability to keep an eye on the rugby ball whilst getting an image of what is going on in front of them. Being able to do this is vital to improving their hands because in a game, they need to be able to recognise when they are going to have to move the ball on quickly.
This is almost the most vital part of handling - having a clear idea of where you want to pass and how before the ball even gets to you.
Check out the other variations on the `Handling` section of drills on Sportplan.
Hope this helps!
