Drop shot is a great shot to use against players who love baseline game. This strategy is effective because it forces player to run big distance at maximal speed and also it forces to use touch skills while decelerating. Not too many players can do that so that is why more advanced players mix powerful strokes with drop shots while being in offensive situations.
In this drill, the player works on strategy that is required to win points while answering drop shots. Many tennis players train drop shots but they don't spend the same amount of time on responding to this shot. It is important to learn how to control the ball while decelerating after a great run as also player has to make a habit to hit and recover because skilled rivals will be waiting at the net to finish all balls with volleys.
