Hockey: Watch Position - Using a toilet tube

Great site. An absolute must for coaches who are willing to change...
Ignatius

DESCRIPTION

The left hand should be at the top of the stick, with the wrist in such a position that if you are wearing a watch you would be able to see the time. The right hand should be half way down the shaft and gripped lightly to allow the stick to rotate.

A common fault is to grip the stick to tightly with the right hand. One way to correct this is to place a toilet roll tube over the stick and get the pupil to grip the tube lightly. This will allow the stick to rotate freely.

COACHING POINTS

  • Ensure that pupils can see a watch on their left hand.
  • Grip the stick lightly with the right hand.
