DESCRIPTION

DRILL TYPE: Racquet Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions EQUIPMENT: (2) Youth Racquets ( 21”, 23” , 25, ) (2) Basket of Red/ Foam Balls (2) Quick Feet Donuts ( 1 yellow, 1 green) SETUP: Place the 2 quick feet donuts on the court in the middle of the backcourt with a racquet. The coach is at the service line with a basket of balls. MISSION: Divide the players into two groups and have them line up behind the baseline. The coach will hand toss one ball to the player who will hit the ball back to the coach to catch the ball. After they have hit the ball, the player then moves to the end of the line. PROGRESSION: Once the players have mastered this technique, move to a competitive game.

COACHING POINTS

Ensure players are well spread out. Make sure they are sideways to target. Move their racquet to the contact point. Hit the ball softly back to the coach.
