
DRILL TYPE: Tennis Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Consistency Progression EQUIPMENT: (12) Youth Racquets Foam balls Poly Spots (12) SETUP: Place the poly spots about 4 to 5 feet away from the wall and place the racquets and ball on the spots. MISSION: The coach will demonstrate the skills, by tossing the ball and hitting it off the wall back and forth. Show them to stand sideways to target and the contact point when hitting the ball. Have the players go to the poly spots and pick up the racquet. The players will bounce the ball and hit it on the side of the body back and forth off the wall. The objectives is to control the ball, so hit it gently, it okay if it bounces a few times between you and the wall, weâre not focusing too much on the bounces here. The player will understand that the ball will always come back and build their confidence while learning constantly return the ball.
