DRILL TYPE: Drill and Racket Fun game for the young children, focus on ball and racket control. TYPE: Individual SETUP: 1. Use cones to set a boundary and show the players were are boundaries. 2. Set up a fitness zone using cones at the corner of the court. 3. Make sure each player has a red ball and a racket. MISSION: 1. On command from the coach, the players will move around the inside of the boundaries, rolling the ball with the edge of their racket. 2. The coach is the ". Dog Catcher ", if the coach catches a player losing control of their dog ( ball) the player goes to the dog pound ( exercise zone) and performs an exercise. 3. Once they have completed their exercises they can return to the game. Progression: 1. Use poly spots for home base, and spread them out across the playing area. On command from the coach, the coach will shout to the players to return home. 2. Players will return their dog to their poly spot and splat the ball on the poly spot. 3. The coach shouts " Stop" the players will stop rolling and splat the ball. Tips: 1. Keep the ball under control with the racket. 2. Keep racquet head to the ground. Safety: 1. Ensure players are well spread out. 2. No wild rolls and racket down on the ground. 3. Make sure players keep their head up and awareness of their space.
