3 players working together start by saying ‘Hold, Hold, Up!’ Then using small fast footwork they follow the arrows moving around markers…forward, right, forward, left and so on untill they reach the end.
Once they reach the last marker, they sprints through to the blue marker to finish. Pointing with their arm the direction they’re sliding together with verbal communication.
We add a trainer holding a hit shield randomly moving between the 3 players sprint line getting them to hit with shoulder using proper tackle technique, wrap arms and driving with their legs.
It teachers them communication both verbal and through body language, cardio/conditioning and Agility. Also doubles as a great Activation/warm up drill.
For the younger players I normally space the markers in a grid with 2 metre spacing. Use your own discretion here, depending on age and ability of your group.
It’s not a race! The 3 players are aiming to do it as fast as they can whilst completing the drill together without cutting any corners and doing it with quality.
Second group of 3 can start as soon as they see group in front begin to sprint. Once completed, players walk back to start again doing as many reps as you want.
