Cross over underarm flick

1) rolls ball out towards 4), 4) runs in picks up the ball and flicks to stumps with 3) backing up. 4) takes up 3)s position, 3) then rolls out towards 2) who runs in and flicks ball towards stump with 1) backing up and runs to take up 3)s position. Soon as ball is feed out by 1) or 3) they run up the side and join the back of the queue.

Fielding / Catching drill.

Two lines of players facing each other. Player 1 rolls out ball for player to run and do an underarm flick back to player 1 who catches ball and puts down. Player 2 joins back of queue. Player 3 repeats the exercise from the other side. Aim: 10 catches after receiving the flick throw, if ball gets dropped go back to 0.

Long Barrier pair defending

Two players per team, stood about 4-5 metres apart between two cones (the goal). Both teams must try to protect their goals by stopping the opposition from throwing the ball through their goal. Using only underarm throws players must try and score in their opponent's goal. A goal is awarded every time their opponent either drops the ball or fails to prevent it passing between their cones.

The fielder behind the stumps rolls the ball out, player 2 picks up the ball and throws over the top of the stumps to the fielder behind the stumps. The process is repeated until player 5 goes who then continues their run to replace the player behind the stumps.

1) rolls ball out a short distance. 2) runs in, underarm flicks to 1) who catches ball. 1) puts ball down, runs back and tags 3) then 2) rolls ball out. Repeat process until all have had a go.

Organisation: Divide the group into 2 equal teams and organixe as shown in the diagram.The ball is rolled underarm towards the opposition's goal. 1 point is scored each time the ball passes between the cones and strikes the wall behind the goal. If sufficient space is available overarm throws (bounced) may be used.Equipment: 1 ball, and 4 marker cones.

1) Right hand only2) Left hand only3) If ball is fumbled, then it goes to the opposition.4) You pass the ball by underarm catches (if catch is dropped ball goes to opposition).5) You can only one bounce the ball to team mate (if ball is dropped ball goes to opposition).6) Coach keeps changing the game from catching, to rolling, to one bounce, if fielders get it wrong ball goes to opposition.

Roll the ball along the ground to a team mate. You can run with the ball, but the ball must be rolled along the ground.Aim to hit the stumps (approach from any side of the square)in the opposition square, using an underarm flick. The square is made up of cones, distance 5-8 metres from the stumps.No fielders at any time are allowed inside the square. The ball is never out of bounds, as there are no boundaries.

Set up two cones, 10m apart and 10m from the target stump.(This drill is best performed in front of a net as shown).Coach rolls the balls out one after another down the middle of the two cones.As the balls come out players must attack them one at a time, running diagonally from alternate cones, to pick up the ball and throw them back looking to hit the stump.Players then join the back of opposite queue.

5-6 fielders and batsmen will be needed for this circuit. When the batting side is ready they must try and run to the other end before the fielding side have caught the ball behind the wickets. When the batting player (1) shouts <em>YES</em> the fielder (1) rolls the ball out to the next fielder (2) and then runs behind the stumps to back up. If the ball reaches the wickets before the batting players then those players have been run out. Fielder (2) then throws ball to the fielder behind the stumps and Fielder (2) goes to Fielder (1)'s old position on the cone. Fielder (1) throws the ball to fielder (2) before joining the back of the fielding queue and the drill starts again.

First team to get 10 rebounds through the cones wins. Hi Guys. I need to teach a cricket lesson to 40, 11 yr old students with a range of abilities in a sports hall. Need focus as well. I need them all continuosly engaged and all have the opportunity to learn and develop.
