how do you get children to run forwards
Hi Chris,
Getting kids to run forward into contact is a common hurdle to get over, but one which is quite easy to overcome with the right drills. Get the players to recognise the gains they can get from going forward, incentivising them with a points system. Award points to the team/individuals that run forward and into contact (maybe with tackle bags first). The competitive aspect will make it fun for them plus help them recognise why it`s important!
Check out the Practices for Juniors section on the drills page to get some inspiration for your sessions. There are some fantastic practices that will get your team thinking forwards!
