how do i coach a backline defence against the opponents attack from a midfield scrum ?
Paul
From a midfield scrum you will need to split your defence and I would suggest man for man as the best defensive strategy.
Your back row players need to be aware of what is happening and they will need good communication with your half backs.
I hope this helps

Paul, just as Simon say's a one on one defence is the best way. your backrow needs to learn to read the attack off the oponents. Even thought your defence starts with creating a powerfull scrumming who can disturb the attack in advance by wheeling or driving, as long as its results in difficult transport of the bal by the n9 or back row move/ pick ups. gr, J
