can anyone suggest drills and practises for forwards to chase kicks please??????
One drill I use for rucking is to get a group of four players. Player1 runs out in front of the rest with the ball, they place the ball and turn to face player2. Player2 runs picks up the ball and runs towards Player1. Player1's job is to tackle and get up and challenged for the ball. Player2 needs to take contact and go to ground, but working on placing the ball back. Player3 then joins and works on clearing out player1 away from contact. Player4 then picks up the ball and becomes player1 and so the process repeats. You can do this with or without bags and you can add more numbers as players get comfortable. You can also add another tackle/contact area so the players get used to working and rucking in a unit.
Hi Andrew, thanks for that but I was looking for suggestions to forwards acting as first and second wave attack in response to kick from own team on 10m ............
forwards are big, slow, & proberly off side as the kick was taken. let the back do the chasing
in more ways than one
