Why do people choose to play any sport?

There's a lot of factors that might influence people's choices to participate in a chosen sport:

  • availability (is it a sport played in your area?), culture, friends, family, personal aptitudes (are you cut out for the sport physically and mentally?), enjoyment, challenge, fitness...

I'm sure there are many more reasons in addition to those I've mentioned above.
