What are the best warm up drills to do before a game
Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Hi Liam,
We normally play a light game of touch, followed by a simple passing down the line drill to warm up our hands. We then move into a ruck clear out drill with tackle bags.
We will then typically split up into backs and forwards and do some position specific drills such as run through our backs moves or line outs. Then at the end we come together and do a full team run through against the subs.
I think its better to leave the drills for training and do as much game related practice in the warm up. This will normally be around 30-45 minutes.
Hope that helps!
Hi Joe thank you for answering my question, could you please explain to me further what the drill is with the cleaning out with tackle bags
Have Player 1 run into the tackle bag and drive there legs to move the tackle bag player backwards. After a few seconds of leg drive have Player 2 shout down, Player 1 drops to the floor and presents the ball backwards. Player 2 then drives the over the top and clears out the tackler/ tackle bag. Key things to work on would be leg drive, ball presentation and a strong clear out!
