Long Sessions

I have to plan two full day sessions(10-4)for Under 14's. Has anyone got any good drills that are easily progressed? Or any ideas of what aspects to include? Thanks

Hi Alana, I hope you have plenty of support to help you.... In the past we have run introductory "Fun Days" with a number of "Stations". Each one teaches a different skill (e.g. tackling, passing, kicking, etc) and the kids spend an agreed amount of time at each before rotating to the next. For yours, I would suggest you need 6 stations, each with two 20 minute drills on each station (one for morning and another for the afternoon. You could then finish the morning session with a game of tag and the afternoon with a full contact game. As for the stations, choices could be; fitness drills, passing moves, kicking, rucking, mauls, tackling. If you can split the backs and forwards for some drills then you can include Lineouts and Scrums for the forwards and special moves for the backs. If you don't have much help I would suggest you plan each session as an allotted slot and them move on to the next but you will need time to set up cones, etc between each. Why not try to get some of your 1st Team adult players to pop down and help for a session or two. They have loads of experience. As for drills, once you know the topics for each station there's a wealth of material on this site to use. Good luck.
