Is lifting the leg when driving in a ruck or maul legal?? I always thought it wasn't. Is this true of all age groups?
I believe only in a ruck can you lift the leg.
they call this "opening the door" and is used when oponent has one foot over the guy on ground, defender comes in hooks leg under knee area and swings it to the open side of ruck, normaly causes the oponent to fall on top of his guy lying on ground slowing the ball and making it messy for oponents scrum half, opening up oportunities for counter ruck.
although I dont teach this it was somthing I was shown doing my EU lvl 3 course
hope it helps
