I am hoping to take our U11-U12 team to a mini rugby tournament in Italy in May. What are the main rule differences between UK and Italian mini rugby at this age group?
Some Under 12 RULES in italian's mini rugby:
Width Range: 40-45 meters.
Length: 56-69 meters (including areas of destination of the width 5 meters).
BALLS OF SIZE AND WEIGHT REDUCTION
The game will be played with balls number 4
A meeting will be disputed by no more than 12 players per team.
The foot is allowed to play throughout the game area, both during the Open play for playing a free kick or a kick free.
If the ball is kicked so that it goes on or over the touchline, touch in-goal or dead ball, either directly and after having touched the ground in the game, but before the player of either team has re-played, the game resumes with a free kick in favor of team that has not kicked the ball at the place where the ball was kicked.
You do not play lineout. In the case of Release the ball into touch play is restarted with a kick Free, in favor of the team that did not result in the release of ball at the point where it was played lineout. The Free Kick will be awarded 5 meters from
touchline and the defending team must position themselves to 5 m that point.
Rule 20 - SCRUM
You do not play SCRUM. For all offenses for which there is a scrum in place and on the same point, will be awarded a Free Kick to team not committed the offense
