Has anyone got any ideas regarding exercises or training programs I can give my senior team to do while we are on the Christmas break as we've got a game first week back in January. I don't want them to loose too much fitness over the Christmas time.
Personally, I wouldn't bother. Just let them know you intend to start from where you left off, and that the 1st session back will be to blow off the cobwebs ;-)
On a scientific note, it takes approx. 3wks (give or take) for the body to work out that its been in a state of sedentary. Only then will it start to relax unused muscles and fitness starts to nosedive. BUT, the brain can forget a lot sooner. So i'd suggest printing off copies of moves and game plans to hand out before xmas, and starting the 1st sessions of the new year running over these in the run up to the 1st game back. Keep their minds focused over the xmas period.
u could try playing other ball sports in the cold weather in doors such as basket ball to keep players active and offer some variety
