I enjoy doing a team exercise where you have two groups of attackers (3 people each) and a scrum half. Get them attacking a defensive line, and make the reset over and over. It's a good game situation and it utilized big and small picture skills. Make sure they talk. Defense is loud! You can warm this skill up by just tossing/kicking a ball around the field and getting the players to form on it. It's a good chance to talk with them about the small things like when do back pedal, when to turn in run, flaring the wings, etc.
