what should the team layout be for under 9s should it be 4 forwards 5 backs and should we play like 7s
Hi Jonathan, The rules for U 9s are%3A 3 forwards and the rest are backs. The scrums for U 9s are uncontested...but the referee will still call `CROUCH. TOUCH. (PAUSE). ENGAGE.` The lineouts are uncontested and no lifting or supporting, 2 players in the lineouts(standing between 2m and 7m from the touchline with the 3rd forward throwing the ball in. There is no kicking. Now, you can`t realy play like 7s rugby because the pitch size for this age level is 60m x35m(maximum), plus 5m for each in-goal. The ball must be size 3 and the game lenght is 2 x 15 minute (maximum). Hope I did answer to your questions. Good luck with your coaching
