Hi Caitlin,

to force the opposition to play down the wing, you can use a few strategic defensive tactics:

  1. Channelling: Encourage defenders to position themselves in a way that forces attackers to move towards the sidelines. This can be done by closing down space in the center and angling your body to guide the attacker towards the wing.
  2. Pressing: Implement a team press where players collectively push the opposition towards the sidelines. This involves coordinating your team's movement to cut off central passing options and force the play wide.
  3. Zonal Marking: Use zonal marking to cover central areas more densely, making it less appealing for the opposition to attack through the middle.
