Description

Player sits on both knees on the ground. Player executes top spin serve.

Coaching points

Working on top spin serve is a priority for any player who wants to achieve a decent level of tennis.

Top spin requires high trajectory so players have to learn how to hit with good clearance.

Being on both knees forces players to create more upward motion and lift the ball higher over the net.

Progression

For more advanced players, the coach can set up targets or put the player into a more difficult starting position e.g laying on the back.

Watching professional players execute a top spin serve is a great way of understandingh how high they hit the ball over the net.
