DESCRIPTION

Revise Indian dribble and ensure the hands work correctly. Move the ball from outside the right foot to outside the left (as shown) and repeat

COACHING POINTS

Check left hand has a grip to allow the face of a wristwatch to be viewed in position 1.

Check that the ‘V' between thumb and index finger is visible in position 2. Ensure at all times that the butt (handle) of the stick faces the belly button.

If the players is unable to complete this task revise Indian Dribble drills.

Reverse Stick Trap Right Shoulder:

Allow the ball to pass the left foot prior to trapping (in the same way as the Indian dribble).

Practices For Juniors

Continual receiving the ball from behind:

In pairs passing the ball to each other the receiver starts running away for the player with the ball to follow and pass the ball in stride to the receiver on the reverse stick side. When the player receives the ball the roles reverse and they change direction.

Passing & Receiving

Cone Dribble:

Put out a long line of cones, with 30cm between each cone.

This is always a good warm up exercise, ideal for when you are waiting for everyone to arrive and get ready.

Using both sides of the stick get your players to dribble through the cones as fast as they can with the ball under control.

Practices For Juniors

Island hopping:

Create lots of small and big islands with cones around a set area.
Every player should have a ball except for 1 or 2 (depending on level of players and area)
Players with the ball try to run from island to island without being caught by the catcher. The catcher is not allowed on the islands. Anybody caught goes to a prison island.
