DESCRIPTION

Starting from a short to mid range kick, the forwards drive it up into contact. The primary focus at the beginning is securing the ruck to allow players to get into proper attack positioning. We are looking to spread out our forwards to maintain some sort of zones. This will keep  all players fresh for multiple phases. We have to rely on everyone to do their part, so that we can set up the next 2-3 phases.

COACHING POINTS

  • As many ruckers as necessary to secure possession.
  • 1st phase: A ball blind side (if possible) with wing support. This allows the remaining forwards to set up the next phase.
  • 2nd phase: B ball to forwards not involved in the initial possession. Original KOR pod will crossover to the far side while the blind side A & B ball are being set up. THEY CAN ALSO BE USED AS AN INSIDE OPTION FOR 12/13 IF WE BAIL ON B BALL.
  • 3rd phase: Back door from 10. BACKS ARE ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR RUCKS ON BACKDOOR. 9 plays quick ball to next phase to relieve the pressure of a prolonged breakdown for the backs.
