DESCRIPTION

Phase 1

  • Coach is standing at the 2nd line of cones, with 2 players standing on the first line.
  • The Coach roles the ball towards the players.
  • They start running to collect before it stops rolling, then run towards the 2nd cone

Phase 2

  • The Coach now becomes the defender, ready to tag the ball barrier.
  • The ball carrier will draw the defender in then offload to their support player
    They will then run to the last line of cones to score a try. The original ball carrier follows in support
  • Once scored, they run back and pass the ball to the coach and return to the team start area

COACHING POINTS

The idea is to run towards the loose ball and retreave at speed, developing ball handling skills.

The main emphasis on this drill is the support. they must remain off the shoulder to the player to support properly.

When passing back to the coach, ensure they run past to enable a backwards pass.
