Rugby Drill Demonstration


3 v 3 Yoga Ball Rugby.  Two teams of 3.  Attacking team must hold Yoga ball above waist or turnover ball.  Defending team therefore can only tackle waist height or below.  Pushing results in turnover ball.

Coaching points

  • Tackle waist height
  • Defenders to focus on infield shoulder thus forcing player to move or pass to player closer to the touchline - Drfit defence
  • Defenders stay connected by moving as a line


  • Overload attack
  • Attacker can change direction
  • Overload defence
  • Increase size of area to create width
