Hand Grip:
Place stick on ground with round part facing up. Have players hold up there left hand and pick up top of stick. Place right hand at bottom of grip.
- Go around and check players hand position and stick placement. Remind them about "chicken wing/check for their parrot)
Quick Game: Relax-Ready Game (Hand grip game)
After you have checked all kids hands for proper grip. Ask them to relax (shake it out, give a little jiggle - stay at cone) as they are relaxing call out " Ready position" - Kids quickly move to Ready position with proper stick grip, look around and check positions. Play again! Make it fun and silly, while ensuring they are ending up in proper position.
Carrying Position: Numbers Game
Numbers Game: players move around inside of circle in proper carrying position, avoiding other players. Coach stands in middle holding up hands with changing numbers of fingers being held out. Kids call out number changes when they see it. In addition, coach can call "Freeze" - players freeze in ready position.
