Identifying the forward pass - progression

DESCRIPTION

  • the ball gets passed wide to the fullback
  • 2 forwards start in the D with 2 defenders. 1 forward leads wide the other posts up and the defenders track.
  • whilst this is happenning the first player that passed is running to support the play with a defender who is trying to catch them
  • Rotation- Players on halfway and sideline rotate. Forwards swap in small groups. Defenders do the same.

COACHING POINTS

  • Attackers lead hard to beat the defender to the ball
  • leads start high up the pitch to stretch play.
