2v1 Game

DESCRIPTION

What?

2v1 finishing game, by creating numbers up situations and taking advantage of opportunities

What? 

2 goals, balls, 2 teams (pinnies), 2 GK (preffered), cones, 25 x 15 yard area

How? 

1. The Coach throws a ball onto the field, the first person in line on each team rus out to try and get the ball.
2. (in my scenario) the bue player gets the ball; they have 2 options 1) eliminate the red defender in a 1v1 and score, 2) tag a teammate by passing the ball back to the second person waiting in line, creating a 2v1. 
3. IF the defender comes up with the ball, they may pass the ball back towards their own baseline and tag a teammate
4. When the defender gets the ball, BOTH attackers clear the field and the 3rd person waiting in line becomes the defender. 
5. This will continue until the ball is either out of play or a goal is scored
6. To reset the game the Coach throws a new ball onto the field and the next person in line repeats the drill (step 1)

COACHING POINTS

Coaching points

• Decision making on the ball
• taking advantage of te opportunities that are provided
• For example, if the RED player gets to the ball first, and the BLUE player is anticipating the pass back by overcommiting, take advantage and score a goal

Variations

• Make field smaller/bigger, illustrated field is approximately 25 x 15 yards. Expand if offense is struggling
• Beginners: require the pass back, as to create the 2v1. 
• Advanced: Do not wait for people to set up to start the next ball, see if your players are plugged in and paying attention
• KEEP SCORE! Competition is always fun
