Players should set up this basic 7 a side half court press across the whole of the pitch. The outletting team once again are trying to get the ball into the goal this time as they are further up the pitch. The reds who are pressing should be looking to deny them any entry into the half way. Show the girls that this would look slightly different if they had 11 players on the pitch and if they feel it would be beneficial run it through statically again with only 3 players outletting and the whole team moving
- The half press is very useful in a game. This press is used to defend against free hits by pulling back to around the half way. The half-press setup blocks the opponents attacking half of the field giving them a lot of space to play the ball. This can make the other team think that they can get through to their attacking half with ease, they are likely to want to hit the ball to their team mates on the other side of the press which results in an easy turnover. The half court press can also be used when a team is winning and just trying to control the game.
- The half court press is all about making the players shift from side to side as the opposition move the ball. It takes lots of discipline and it is needed because as soon as one of the players breaks the press it will leave a gap for the attackers to play the ball through.
