Overall tackle technique requires:
- Mobility, patience, footwork, posture-head up (ensure they stay down in correct position) and versatility.
Block Tackle Technique:
- Try to move the player down the outside (down the forehand)
- The defenders should be their toes and constantly moving their feet so they cannot be easily eliminated due to flat feet
-Lunge forward with left foot
-Left hand on the floor!
- Use the acronym: PALM2- Proactive, Aggressive, Low, Mobile, 2Hands
- Reverse side tackles – players need to roll the stick over and try to smother the ball (not use the leading edge and hit the ball away)
- Players have to stay down on the ball until the dribbler has run on past
- Encourage players to have good movement (footwork) after a successful tackle to ensure a quality pass afterwards in a game
- Encourage players to make flat-stick tackles in advance of square (stick angle)
- Ensure players are tackling with one foot in advance of the other
- Make sure players switch over so they both get the chance to tackle. Tackling on the reverse is harder but the same rules apply. Ensure there are no crossing over of hands!!!
1.) By the attackers trying to beat the defender in an active situation it will make it more game realistic. Players in this stage should be looking more at the time of their tackles to guarantee them wining the ball. Players body shape should encourage/ force the attacker to go down the forehand of the defender.
