Ball control - Upright open face dribbling

Great site. An absolute must for coaches who are willing to change...
Ignatius

DESCRIPTION

Slalom dribble through sets of cones as shown (15min).

  • Lines A and B execute an open face dribble (open field run with ball held in contact with stick) back to lines C and D
  • Lines C and D end with a shot at goal

Variations

  • Ball alwys stays in the middle of the body - players are not allwoed to turn the stick over to pull the ball from Left to Right
  • Conventional dribble with players now allowed to turn the stick over

COACHING POINTS

The open faced run back to the lines C and D needs to be executed with the head up - to help accomodate this the 3rd players in lines A and B can step out into the line and hold their R or L hand out beside them.

Players running back with the ball need to call out which hand is being held out - players keep track of how many times they are correct
