Creating numbers-up to goal

I really appreciate the Hockey Coaching on Sportplan. The senior girls...

DESCRIPTION

A 1v1 occurs within either grid (ball starts in middle, players have to fight for possession in the grid). Whichever team wins, exits the grid and dribbles/ passes towards their goal to their teammates on the field. During the 1v1 in the grid, if the attacker with the ball is able to dribble through their gate (red or blue gates within the grid), their 1v1 defender cannot join the play on the field to goal (so if the attacker cuts the defender thru the gate to the inside of the field, they create a numbers up situation)

COACHING POINTS

Focuses: D needs to channel outside and not get cut on the inside (which ultimately takes them out of play, creating numbers down on their team). A needs to focus on 1v1 attack, cutting to the inside, and moving off-ball.
