Shane, Hockey Coach

DESCRIPTION

3 high attackers start outside the D with 3 starting near the half way. The defenders set up with 2 on the half way. The attackers on the half way start with the ball and play it into their high attackers. Once the ball is played in the attackers and defenders on the half way join the 3 attackers and 3 defender on the edge of the circle creating the 6v5. once the attack is over 4 of the attackers take another ball from the 23m lineand go towards the goal on the half way line. 2 defenders have to jump back to try and defender the play.

*health and safety no striking the ball on the half way*

there will be limited space on the pitch therefore high ball pace is required to ensure quality of attack in the inital play. Movement patterns of the ball stretching the pitch as much as possible is key to allow for play to progress.

Defensively the 2 defenders jumping back will need to communicate with the 3 defenders already set in the 23 to aid breakdown of play.

Red lines represent the 2nd phase of play.
