1) Warmup game
Normal rules. Score in a goal, or by carrying/passing into the opposition's end zone. If using goalposts, double points if you score a deflected or crossed goal. Progression: 1 bonus pt if 1) your team wins the ball back within [3]secs of losing it.
Feedback/question: What should you do to avoid losing the ball straight away? (shield it, look up, pass to space/safety.)
2) Breakout
Defenders (DEF) v attackers (ATT). DEF team start with ball + try to keep possession inside the circle (or box). If ATT team turns over the ball, they can break to goal and score for 3pts. If DEF team can win back the ball + return it to the circle, they get 5pts. Reset when ATT score/ball goes behind backline/DEF return ball to circle. After 3 attempts, swap ATT + DEF roles.
Variation: 1 ATT + 1 DEF start in the D.
Feedback/question: When you break out, how can you move the ball quicker to goal than the chasing DEFs?
3) Transfer game
If the defending team wins the ball, they must change channel before they can score in the goal(s). Variations: 1) Pass/carry/hit through the goal(s) to score. 2) Have 1 central goal, rather than 2 side goals.
Feedback/question: What team shape can you adopt to move the ball effectively around the pitch? (diamond shape)
4) Secret missions game (if time)
Two teams, each attacking a central goal or outlet gates. One team has a secret mission to perform for [4] mins. Give 1pt each time they carry it out (announce score at the end). Missions: 1) Beat a defender with a one-two pass 2) Transfer the ball (at least 5m) to safety/space.
Feedback/question: What was the other team's secret mission? Was it useful/effective? Why/why not?
