Rollout Drill

DESCRIPTION

Groups of 3-5.

Procedure:

  1. Rollout: Approach middle cone, feint left, then roll out right. 
  2. Rollout then drag R>L: Approach middle cone, feint left, roll out right, then drag ball R>L.
  3. Reverse rollout: Approach middle cone, feint right then roll out left.

After each rollout, pass to next player and join the back of the opposite line.

Progressions: 

  • Practice these techniques as a shooting drill.
  • Play a game such as bulldog, where the aim is to eliminate a defender by carrying.

COACHING POINTS

  • This drill practices rollout eliminations.
  • The difficulty level of the drills increases from 1-3.

Pointers:

  • For a faster rollout, try to trap the ball in the hook of the stick.
  • When doing the reverse rollout (No.3), use either upright reverse stick, or for a faster movement, trap the ball in the hook
