Should I mix my best and worst rugby players in the team, or, divide them into similar skills and abilities?

mix them,
the kids learn best from each other, but make sure the weaker ability kids get to play and are not just watching the better ones run the trys in, I do this by rotating the starter and receiver after each try.
Mixed ability teams rather than streamed is the way to go at that age group. You can move players between one team and another without causing any issues whatsoever. Using this approach makes player retention easier and helps you to upskill your whole squad without leaving behind your `bottom third`. They`re not competing for trophies and glory at that age so there`s no need to put out your `A team`.
