I would like some help/drills to help me introduce U9's to positions ie%3A start playing in set positions during a game ie forwards/backs. Up til now they have not had set positions & its been everyone follow the ball. I need to get them to understand & keep to positions during a game.

One way to do this is to delegate three players as the three forwards and play a simple small sided game - everytime there is a knock on or forward pass you have a 3 v 3 scrum with chicken scratch - the hooker uses his hands to heel the ball back. From this beginning you gradually increase the use of forwards for lineouts etc until the players get the concept of forwards and backs.
I am out in West Africa at the moment and we had a game like this today on the beach - the youngsters soon saw how there are players who are specialists who need to regain the ball.
I hope this helps
