What is your best suggestions for how to improve the back players skills to defend the goal?
Hi there,
The best defenders are those who rarely have to make a tackle. To improve your defenders skills, initially start with some channelling drills to get your players into the mindset of slowing the attackers down and showing them away from danger. This is much more effective than trying to make a tackle and risk getting eliminated.
Once they are comfortable with channelling the attacker away from danger, the attackers options are limited and it either makes it easier to knick the ball from them or puts pressure on them and they give the ball away.
To practice tackling, try using some 1v1 tackle grids first where they focus on initially channelling the attacker and then making a tackle.
