Hi Lakhindra,

For a 3v2 defending drill, you can use the "Defending 3 v 2" drill from the drill library. Here’s a quick overview of how to execute it:

Drill Overview:

  • Objective: Improve defenders' ability to handle overload situations.
  • Setup: Players from the 23-meter line pass the ball to two players in the goal. These two players, upon receiving the ball, try to run and pass the ball under control out of the area across the 23-meter line. The players coming from the 23m line have to try and win the ball and score a goal.

Coaching Points:

  1. Marking: Ensure the defenders pick up and mark the attackers tightly. If one of the attackers without the ball runs through to receive a pass behind the defense, marking this player tightly denies the pass.
  2. 2v1 Play: By marking the player tightly, the two remaining defenders can play a 2v1 situation against the ball carrier.
  3. Communication: Defenders must communicate effectively to cover each other and ensure they are not beaten by a single pass or dribble.

Best of luck with your session, Cam
