Movement Game with Net

Start the game by volleying the ball over the net to the player at the back of court they overhand pass the ball to the player at the net who sets the ball up for the player to move forward and play the ball over the net with a volley, this then is repeated for a set number, length of time or can be made competitive.

4 Passing Drills

Nail The Ball To The Ground

Players stand opposite each other with a ball between them. One player throws the ball up, and the other tries to "nail" the ball to the ground with the top part of their hands.

4 Passing Drills

Near and far - Set Passing

In pairs half a metre from the net players volley the ball cooperatively over the net moving side-ways until they reach the end of the net. Players then move back to the 3 metre line and volley the ball high to each other moving the opposite way until they reach the other end of the net where they move back close to the net and repeat.

4 Passing Drills

One Leg Passing

Players work in pairs with a ball between them. They underhand pass the ball to each other but while standing on one foot only. Players can move but can only do this by jumping on one foot, with the other in the air.

4 Passing Drills

One on one underarm passes

Players compete one on one over the net taking underhand passes only. Each of the players is allowed to touch the ball twice before returning it across the net. The player to score 10 points first wins.

4 Passing Drills

One, two, tip

Two on two play. The court is narrowed and players are only allowed to tip the ball on the other side (spike forbidden).

4 Passing Drills

Overhand And Underhand Net Passes

With players in pairs and on either side of the net, one player overhand passes the ball over the net to their teammate, when underhand passes the ball back to them.

4 Passing Drills

Overhand throw-catch

Each player has a ball. The player starts with the ball above their shoulders in front of their face in the overhand passing position. The task is to throw the ball up with both hands from the forehead position, just like they would during passing and catching it back in a game.

4 Passing Drills

Pancake

Players work in pairs with two balls between them. One of the players will have both balls. The player throws one of the balls, and their teammate lowers their position to pancake the ball with their left hand, before doing the same with their right hand.

4 Passing Drills

Pass And Forward Roll

Players work in pairs with a ball between them. They pass the ball to each other and after passing, they follow it with a forward roll.

4 Passing Drills

Pass And Run

Working in pairs, one player passes the ball and runs around their teammate before returning to their original position. The teammate then does the same.

4 Passing Drills

Pass and Tip

Players stand opposite each other with a ball each. They pass the ball high before tipping the ball to their teammate, who will be doing the same thing.

4 Passing Drills

Pass And Toe

Players work in pairs with two balls between them. One ball starts on the floor with a player while the other ball is in the hands of the players opposite. The ball is overhand passes at the same time that the other ball is pushed by the leg of the opposite players.

4 Passing Drills

Pass High To Get Up

Players work in pairs, sitting on the floor, with a ball between them. Their task it to receiver the ball overhand, pass it high and get up to pass the ball back.

4 Passing Drills

Pass just over the net

1) In pairs the players stand facing each other on opposite sides of the net wuith one ball between them. 2) Players then take it in turns to serve to each other so the ball flies just over the net or even touching it.

4 Passing Drills

Pass Over The Net And Set

The player starts in the opponent's zone 3 and overhand passes the ball over the net to zone 3 on the other side of the court. They then move under the net before setting the ball directly to a target. The target can be anything from another player, to a cone, or even to a netball ring as shown in the video.

4 Passing Drills

Passing and Movement

Two players stand at the baseline at 1 and one player stands at the baseline at 5, a feeder feeds the ball alternating to 1 and 5 the players run from 1 to 5, side step the last two steps and pass to a target directly in front of them. Then a player runs from five to one and does the same if you have run from 5-1 then you go to the baseline at 1 and visa-versa. This drill continues for set time or number of good contacts. This drill can be fast, slow or whatever the feeder makes it, you can underhand feed or feed with a topspin hit. You can do this with two feeders feeding at the same time, however this can cause confusion but thatÂ’'s ok. Players need to be able to sort it out or give them some help and guidance by asking appropriate questions i.e. what do you do if?

4 Passing Drills

Passing Drill Over The Net

One player of the pair on either side of the net. A set or overhead pass drill, with the players passing to each other. Can be used as a warm up drill.

4 Passing Drills

Play On Both Sides

Players work in threes starting from a dig and each of them assigns a role: receiver, setter and spiker. As soon as the receiver digs the ball, they run under the net to change the side of the court. Every player changes side when they hit the ball, with the spiker being the last player to move over.

4 Passing Drills

Quick Passes

Players stand in pairs across the court from each other. One player has two balls and starts by throwing one ball in the air for the other player to pass back. While this ball is in the air having been passed back, the player throws the other ball to be passed back.
