Coach feeds the ball from behind the baseline to one side only. Both teams start at baseline. Team that wins the point then will start on service line.If that same team wins the next point then they are awarded major point. They keep starting on service line if winning. If they lose they back paddle to baseline and the other team starts on service line. Major points can only be scored after starting from service line. Play first to 7 then change ends.
Variation: instead 2 stages ( baseline, service line) , set up 3 stages : baseline-service line- half way between service line and net. Can only score when starting from the closest stage to the net. Players either move one stage up if win or one stage down if lose.
- players need to keep facing net when moving forward or back
- coach regulates intensity by feeding shortly after point is finished
- encourage moving forward as a unit/ team
-" follow the ball " to the net
On-court coaching is now fully legal, technology continues to advance, and the ATP calendar evolves. Here's what tennis coaches need to know for 2026.
Tennis demands a unique combination of endurance, power, agility, and flexibility. Physical preparation determines how long careers last and how players perform when it matters most.
Ecological dynamics is transforming tennis coaching. This constraints-led approach develops adaptable, creative players who can solve problems in competition, not just execute drilled patterns.
