DESCRIPTION

DRILL TYPE: Racquet Skills/ Team Games

FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions

EQUIPMENT:

  • (4) Poly Spots
  • Basket of Red/ Foam Balls

SETUP:

  1. Place the four poly spot on one side of the net, 1 on the center mark ( home base), 2 on the singles sideline and service line ( 1st/ 3rd bases), 1 on the center service line near the net ( 2nd base).
  2. The coach is in the middle of the at the T ( service line and center service line with a basket of balls.

MISSION:

  1. Divide the players into two teams- one batting and the other on defense and spread out on the other side of the net.
  2. The coach tosses a hand feed pitch to the first player who tries to hit it over the net within the court boundaries.
  3. A ball caught in the air by the defense is an out.
  4. The batter get three tries to hit a fair ball, if they fails, they are out.
  5. Batters run the bases. Base runners must be forced to advance.
  6. Teams switch after three outs.
  7. A ball that drop in the:
  • Service box= singles
  • Backcourt = double
  • Alley = triple
