Sandwich ball smother practice

DESCRIPTION

1st ball (Black Line). Rolled to Blue keepers left foot. Blue uses this pass to shoot at Red over Katchets/shark combo. Play out. 

 

2nd ball (Red Line) 

Pass ball to keeper, keepers passes back. Practice smothering. Do Not play out. 

 

3rd ball (Blue line) After smother wait 3 seconds and shoot on right foot of Blue keeper.

Blue keeper tries to score in Reds goals/Reds score in Blue goal. 

COACHING POINTS

Adapt 2nd ball to keepers ability! Dribble or go right so they smother glove side down. 

 

 

  • First Timing, direction height and speed. 
  • Foot work-small steps for kick into net...
  • Decision making- when to go out/stay in
  • Decision making- when to go down/stay up. 

 

Smother: Stick side down

    • Ball to hit leading knee 
    • Left foot behind
    • Body upright
    • Left hand up and ready
    • Timing
